Bezos Family Foundation Scholarships to the November 2023 Learning & the Brain Conference in Boston, MA
The Bezos Family Foundation has as one of its core goals to “power the science of learning.” The Foundation does this by making grants with the aim of fueling the science of learning and enabling its application in a variety of settings. Their mission is to invest in the science of learning and the experiences that youth need from birth to high school to pursue their own path for success.
As part of this mission, the Bezos Family Foundation is sponsoring a limited number of scholarships to send educators to the Learning & the Brain conference in Boston this November to hear about the latest in the science of learning and the social brain.
SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship will cover the registration fee for the three-day conference. The scholarship will also cover up to $1,700 in combined travel*, accommodation**, and meal expenses***.
Once your scholarship is approved, you should book your hotel and travel. After the conference, please submit all of your travel expenses (transportation and hotel) to Learning & the Brain at [email protected] within 30 days of the conference and you will be reimbursed the total of those expenses up to a maximum of $1,700. Please do not book your hotel and travel until you are approved.
*Applicants should travel via the most economically reasonable manner available to them so that we can award as many scholarships as possible.
**Applicants must live more than a 40-mile drive from the Westin Copley Place to qualify for hotel accommodations.
***Up to $75 will be paid per day for meal expenses for each night the applicant stays over in a hotel.
Note: You must attend the conference in Boston for the travel to be reimbursed.
ELIGIBILITY
The scholarship is limited to only public school educators from underserved communities in the United States. Educators who are employed at underserved public schools in the United States may apply. For purposes of this scholarship, schools are considered underserved if more than half the student body receives a free school lunch (source: publicschoolreview.com). Please do not apply if you are from a private school or do not meet the underserved school criteria.
Since team collaboration is important in implementing changes, this program wants to encourage groups of educators from the same school or district (between 2 and 5 educators and administrators) to come to the conference to learn together. An application for each individual in the group must be completed and they must all be submitted together in a single e-mail in order to qualify as a group.
Preference will also be given to people who have not attended the conference series before over any past attendee.
All attendees must complete an evaluation form to verify attendance at the end of the conference.
APPLICATION
To apply, please fill out this application and send it to [email protected].
Applications are due no later than October 15.
NOTE: Due to high demand and a limited number of scholarships, please apply as soon as possible.
