Dr. Cynthia Nebel is the Director of Learning Services at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She earned her Ph.D. in the Brain, Behavior, and Cognition program at Washington University in St. Louis and has served as Assistant Chair of Psychology at Lindenwood University, Associate Professor of Psychology at Washburn University, and Senior Lecturer at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Nebel has broad interests in human learning and memory and applying the science of learning to educational contexts. Her research has focused on transfer of knowledge through retrieval practice and individual differences and she has presented the science of learning at regional and national conferences in the US, as well as abroad at several schools and conferences of educators in the UK and Australia, and for corporate and government organizations. Dr. Nebel is also passionate about bridging the gap between research and practice in education and promotes dialogue between researchers and practitioners as an active collaborator of The Learning Scientists (www.learningscientists.org). Together, the Learning Scientists co-authored a book entitled Ace That Test: A Student’s Guide to Learning Better.
